ABOUT PROJECT
Roobykon Software loves turning bold ideas into platforms that spark real connections, and SimList.gg is one we’re especially proud of. Built in close partnership with the founder, SimList was designed with one clear mission: to give SIM racers and flyers a safe, seamless way to buy, sell, and connect. From day one, our goal was to craft a space that feels just as dynamic and passionate as the community it serves.
Today, SimList.gg is a growing hub where thousands of racers and flyers come together to upgrade their gear, share experiences, and build the setups they’ve always dreamed of. Watching it evolve into the go-to platform for this niche, high-energy crowd has been a thrill. For us, this project was about fueling a community we believe in. And that’s the kind of work that keeps us inspired.

Solution Highlights
To bring SimList to life, we combined battle-tested tools with custom engineering to deliver a smooth, reliable, and scalable platform tailored to the SIM racing and flying community. At its core, SimList is built on Sharetribe Open Source, which provided a solid, marketplace-ready foundation.
For communication and transactional messaging, we integrated Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) to handle all email functionality, from account confirmations to notifications about listings and messages. Brevo’s robust infrastructure helped us ensure timely and reliable email delivery, contributing to a smoother user experience and keeping the SimList community connected and informed.

THE PROCESS
01
A trusted collaboration rekindled: When the founder of SimList reached out to us in August 2024, we were excited to dive back into collaboration mode, having already built a strong working relationship through our previous work together on another marketplace for years.
02
Laying the technical groundwork: We kicked off development on August 6, 2024, immediately setting up the SimList infrastructure on Sharetribe Open Source. With speed and efficiency at the core of our approach, we implemented essential features and integrated the foundational mechanics needed to make the marketplace functional from day one.
03
MVP in just 10 days: By August 16, we had a fully operational MVP up and running. While it was intentionally minimal, it was more than enough to start engaging users, validate the concept, and provide a launchpad for marketing and investment. This tight turnaround speaks to both the power of the Sharetribe base and our team’s experience with building fast, scalable marketplace solutions.
04
Transferring key features from Strainly: To give SimList a head start, we selectively migrated and adapted several proven features previously built for the founders’ previous project. This allowed us to avoid reinventing the wheel and focus on delivering value quickly while still customizing the experience to suit the unique needs of SIM racers and flyers.
05
Evolving with the community: Since launch, we’ve remained hands-on, continuously extending SimList’s functionality. Some features are thoughtfully reused and modified from another marketplace, while others are designed and built from scratch to match the growing ambitions of the platform. This iterative approach lets us stay agile and responsive to the community’s feedback and the founder’s evolving vision.
Main Features
Global accessibility with multicurrency & multilanguage support
To make SimList truly international, we equipped the platform with multilingual and multicurrency functionality. Users can now interact with the site in 5 languages and choose from 15 different currencies, removing friction and creating a smoother experience for a global audience of SIM racers and flyers.
Social sharing on listing pages
We also implemented a social sharing feature directly on listing pages, enabling users to easily spread the word across Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). This boosts visibility for individual listings while encouraging community-driven growth – a must-have in today’s socially connected world.
Invite friends & earn rewards
To further drive engagement, we introduced a referral system that lets users invite friends to join SimList and earn rewards for it. It’s a simple, effective way to reward loyal users, grow the community, and reinforce the platform’s collaborative spirit.
RESULTS
We helped bring to life a platform that is now actively growing, continuously evolving, and resonating with a passionate, global community of SIM racers and flyers. With every new feature and technical refinement, we’ve deepened the platform’s value while staying true to its core vision: to empower a niche audience with a trusted, scalable, and community-driven solution. For Roobykon, this is proof of what can happen when a great idea meets the right execution partner.

Lessons from SimList
Every project teaches us something, but SimList was one of those rare builds that truly pushed us to grow. From the moment we kicked off development, we knew we were racing against the clock. Launching a marketplace in just 10 days? That’s ambitious even by Roobykon standards. But we leaned into the challenge and, in doing so, discovered a lot about who we are as a team.
We faced the classic MVP tension: how to deliver a stripped-down version that still feels solid, functional, and meaningful to real users. We had to make smart, sometimes tough calls about which features to include, which to borrow from the founder’s previous project, and what could wait. It taught us the importance of clarity and prioritization. Not everything has to be perfect on day one, but everything has to have a purpose.
