ABOUT PROJECT
When we first began working on CareConnect at Roobykon Software, we knew we were stepping into a space that goes beyond technology, because this platform is about human connection, trust, and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. The project resonated deeply with us because, like the founders of CareConnect, many of us have personal stories about navigating the complex and emotional process of finding the right care for aging loved ones. It was clear that this was a bridge between families and care providers, built on empathy and empowerment.
The heart of the CareConnect, a healthcare platform, lies in its mission to simplify and humanize the senior care search. From the beginning, we collaborated closely with the founder, Kofi Domfeh, listening to his vision of creating a trusted community where care meets connection. Every feature we developed was designed with a single question in mind: “How will this help families and care providers make confident, informed decisions?” Whether it was enabling transparent communication between families and care communities, or creating a cost-effective platform for care providers to grow and thrive, every feature reflected that purpose.

Key Challenges
When we first took on the challenge of creating the CareConnect digital care platform at Roobykon Software, we quickly realized that the project wasn’t going to be about solving overly complex technical puzzles or developing groundbreaking features. Instead, the real challenge was time – meeting tight deadlines without compromising on quality, functionality, or the user experience. It was a race against the clock, and every decision we made had to be smart, efficient, and laser-focused.
From the very start, the client was clear about their vision and their timeline. They needed a fully functioning digital health and wellness platform ready to launch in a matter of weeks, not months. For a project of this scale, that kind of timeline left no room for error, let alone rework. We had to get it right the first time. That meant prioritizing features, streamlining workflows, and making strategic choices about where to allocate resources.

Solution Highlights
Stripe Connect was used to handle secure and efficient payments within the marketplace, enabling quick transactions for users and service providers. To offer flexible subscription management for providers, we integrated Stripe Subscriptions, allowing them to manage recurring payments with ease. The platform’s hosting was powered by AWS, providing reliable, scalable infrastructure to support a growing user base. Additionally, we utilized Google Maps API to enhance the search functionality, enabling users to find healthcare providers based on their location and view detailed maps.
For the healthcare website development, we chose Sharetribe as the core platform for building the marketplace structure, offering an efficient solution for marketplace management. On the frontend, we used React to deliver a dynamic, responsive interface, ensuring an engaging user experience across all devices. On the backend, Node.js provided a fast and scalable server-side environment, ensuring that the platform can handle high traffic volumes and complex interactions efficiently.

The process
01
Preparation and initial planning: We kicked off the B2C marketplace development by understanding the client’s requirements and defining key features for the MVP, such as rental options (daily, monthly), a messaging system, location search with radius filtering, and accessibility features. Given the tight timeline, we prioritized these features to ensure the project could be launched on time.
02
Functionality optimization: To streamline the process, we simplified the feature set: we removed weekly rentals, limited location search to radius filtering, and introduced a subscription model with a free 7-day trial for landlords. A basic cancellation policy was added for refunds before booking. These changes allowed us to focus on core features.
03
Finalizing and confirming details: We confirmed technical details like refund policies, and the handling of complex scenarios. These conversations not only confirmed our expertise but also strengthened the client’s confidence in our ability to meet their goals. We worked quickly to create a final WBS, incorporating detailed timelines and clear estimates for each task, ensuring everything was set up for a smooth workflow.
04
Agile execution and communication: We kept the client updated with frequent check-ins to address any concerns and refine the platform’s features. The development process, though short (just three weeks) focused on efficiency. While a complete design was not part of the scope, we created a main page layout and stylesheet, leaving other pages styled during development or using default designs. We held a final session to finalize the last details, and once everything was locked in, we set a target date for launch – just four weeks after starting.
05
Launch and feedback: When the CareConnect platform went live on September 27th, 2024, it was a testament to our team’s ability to work efficiently under pressure. We had successfully created a platform that met the needs of its target audience with a simple, accessible design and crucial features like messaging, location search, and a subscription model. We delivered the healthcare website on time, ensuring it was ready for the planned conference and well-received by users.
Main Features
Subscription plans
Providers are given the flexibility to choose between two plans: a free option and a paid one. The free plan allows providers to use the platform without upfront costs, but it comes with a marketplace fee for each transaction. On the other hand, the paid subscription offers providers a way to bypass transaction fees by paying a fixed amount each month. This dual-plan approach empowers providers to select the model that best aligns with their business needs, balancing accessibility with cost-efficiency.
Custom search with radius filter
We understood that families often search for care options close to home, so we created a search tool that allowed users to find providers based on proximity. Whether searching through the header or on the dedicated search page, users can refine their results by setting a radius from their chosen location. This functionality makes the platform incredibly user-friendly, ensuring that families can quickly find the care providers most convenient for them.
Price per month calculation
Providers can set prices for both nightly and monthly stays. What made this feature special was the automatic adjustment for long-term bookings: if a user booked for a month or more, the nightly rate was calculated at a discounted price derived from the monthly rate. This dynamic pricing system makes the platform more attractive for both families and providers, encouraging longer stays while maintaining fairness in pricing.
RESULTS
The collaboration between Roobykon and CareConnect was a true testament to what can be achieved when a team is focused, flexible, and fully committed to a shared goal. From the very start, we understood the importance of a fast-paced, efficient planning process, and we adapted our approach to fit the client’s budget and deadlines without sacrificing the platform’s core functionality. The key to our success was being able to quickly prioritize critical features for the MVP. We streamlined the platform, cutting out less essential elements while ensuring that features like location-based search, messaging, and accessibility remained intact. This allowed us to deliver exactly what was needed for a successful launch.
Timely communication played a huge role in keeping everyone aligned. We were in constant contact with the CareConnect team, making sure we were responsive to their needs and concerns. The result? A healthcare marketplace that was not only ready for its big debut but also set up perfectly for their client demonstration at a crucial conference.

Lessons from CareConnect
The work on the CareConnect, customer care platform, taught our Roobykon team several lessons that will influence how we approach projects in the future. First, we learned the importance of prioritizing core features early in the process. Given the tight deadlines, we had to focus on what truly mattered for the MVP. Features like location search, messaging, and accessibility had to remain intact, while other elements were pared down. This really hit the nail on the head of how understanding the core needs of a client at the very outset makes all the difference, and not to be sidetracked by secondary functionalities.
Another lesson was the need for flexibility in scope management. As the project progressed, we had to adjust the scope multiple times to accommodate the client’s budget and timeline. For instance, we initially planned for weekly rentals but pivoted to only daily and monthly options to keep things manageable. This experience showed us that being open to change and adapting features based on practical constraints is essential for delivering on time and within budget. Finally, we learned the value of accelerating timelines without sacrificing quality. Despite the fast-paced schedule, we were able to build a functional and user-friendly platform by sticking to a clear timeline, efficiently allocating resources, and focusing on critical tasks. The lesson here is that speed doesn’t have to mean cutting corners – it’s about smart planning, prioritization, and teamwork. This case study of a health platform underlined the importance of balancing innovation with practicality and a customer-centered approach.
