Designed as a smart and dynamic marketplace for urban spaces, Bespaced bridges the gap between hosts and guests, offering an integrated booking system that makes reservations quick, flexible, and hassle-free. Users can search, book, and manage spaces in real time (by the hour, day, or longer), ensuring they get the perfect venue for their needs. For hosts, Bespaced transforms idle spaces into revenue streams, turning underutilized locations into thriving hubs of activity. For guests, it removes the guesswork from finding the ideal setting, saving time and money while unlocking access to the most inspiring venues in town.

Key Challenges
When working on the Bespaced project, the Roobykon team faced a set of key challenges that shaped the development process. The first major challenge was creating a platform that was easy to navigate for users with varying levels of technical expertise. A marketplace like Bespaced had to balance simplicity and functionality, ensuring that users could search, book, and manage locations effortlessly. Achieving this required careful structuring of content, clear navigation pathways, and a seamless booking process that minimized friction at every step.
Another challenge was to craft a modern, appealing, and highly responsive design that would not only look great but also enhance usability. Our team worked extensively on wireframes, prototypes, and real-world testing, ensuring that the interface remained intuitive while providing a visually pleasing experience across all devices. Plus, a fundamental requirement of Bespaced was real-time booking and availability management. This meant integrating high-performance technologies capable of handling instant updates, secure transactions, and seamless communication between hosts and guests.

Solution Highlights
The foundation of Bespaced is built on Ruby on Rails, a powerful web application framework that enabled us to rapidly develop the platform while ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Ruby on Rails simplifies web template integration with services and databases, which allowed us to focus on delivering the best possible user experience, without compromising performance. To power the platform’s data processing capabilities, we incorporated Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3, which provided us with high computing power and the ability to store and manage vast amounts of data seamlessly. This combination ensured that Bespaced could handle complex transactions and accommodate a large volume of real-time bookings without any lag or downtime.
Additionally, Amazon CloudFront was implemented to deliver content to users quickly and securely. By utilizing a Content Delivery Network (CDN), we ensured that Bespaced’s content was accessible at lightning speed, regardless of the user’s location, while maintaining the highest level of security.

Conceptualization and planning: The first stage of the project was all about shaping the vision. Our team began by developing a concept document for the future platform, ensuring we had a clear understanding of the client’s needs and expectations. Website design and initial development: Once the concept was solidified, we moved on to the design phase. Our designers worked on creating a user-friendly and visually appealing website design, ensuring the platform would be intuitive and engaging for users. After finalizing the design, the development phase began, with our team using Ruby on Rails to quickly build the website. The focus was on making the platform functional, responsive, and easy to navigate for both hosts and guests.

Adding key functionalities and integrating tools: With the website built, our next step was to enhance the platform’s performance. We integrated additional tools like Amazon EC2, S3, and CloudFront to ensure fast data processing and smooth real-time functionality. Payment system integration: To complete the service, we implemented a secure payment system, allowing guests to book spaces and hosts to receive payments effortlessly. This crucial step ensured the platform was fully functional and ready for real-world transactions.

Every space presented on the platform is carefully checked and photographed by the service’s own employees. Bespaced operates 24/7, offering customers the flexibility to receive help or consultation at any time. Whether it’s assistance with navigating the platform, selecting the ideal space, or getting more information, the platform’s dedicated support team is always ready to lend a hand. If customers find themselves uncertain about which venue to choose, the Bespaced team will proactively suggest spaces tailored to their preferences.
Secure payment system
To ensure both customer and property owner peace of mind, Bespaced has integrated a secure payment system. This system guarantees complete privacy for all transactions, safeguarding sensitive information while allowing for smooth, reliable payments. Whether booking a space for a short-term workshop or a social event, both parties can trust that their financial details are well-protected.
RESULTS
In collaboration with Bespaced, our primary goal was to create an efficient, user-friendly platform that met the needs of both customers and space owners. Our aim was not only to make the service simple and easy to navigate but also to design a visually appealing and engaging experience. We worked closely with the client to ensure the platform was both practical and attractive, enhancing the overall user journey. To build a solid foundation for the website, we chose Ruby on Rails as the development framework. This decision allowed us to create a platform that is scalable, customer-friendly, and efficient, ensuring that both hosts and guests could easily access the features they need. For performance and speed, we hosted the platform using Amazon Services Cloud. This choice ensured that Bespaced loads in fractions of a second, even with low bandwidth connections, delivering a fast and seamless experience for users, no matter their location.
Another important aspect was the payment system. After reviewing various options, the client selected Mangopay, a secure and reliable payment solution. Our team worked on integrating this payment system into the platform, ensuring smooth and secure transactions for both customers and space owners.
Lessons from Bespaced
During the development of Bespaced, our team at Roobykon faced several challenges that helped us grow both technically and professionally. One of the biggest lessons was learning how to balance simplicity with functionality—creating a user-friendly platform while incorporating essential features like the booking and payment systems. Choosing Amazon Services Cloud for hosting taught us how to optimize performance and scalability, ensuring that the platform could handle large amounts of real-time data without sacrificing speed.
Additionally, integrating a secure payment system was a key learning experience. After careful consideration, we implemented Mangopay, which enhanced our ability to deliver customized solutions for clients.
